2nd line rx, DI: tyramine and serotonin syndrome
(Imipramine, Desipramines, Clomipramine), (Amitriptiline, Nortriptiline), (Amoxapine)
SE: Triad of C’s
Rx: urine alk
C: 2nd rx for OCD, 1st for SSRI, SE: GI Distress
Ami: neuropathic pain
I: nocturnal enuresis
Amox: anti-dopaminergic fx, se: eps & hyperprolactinemia
DI: TCA + SSRI = Serotonin Syndrome
Fluvoxamine, Fluoxetene/Paroxetene, Citolopram, Sertraline (SSRI)
MOA: inhibits 5HT reuptake
OCD 1st line, causes Wt. loss, delays orgasm, bruxism
Venlafaxine, Duloxetine
SNRI
MOA: inhibit reuptake of NE & 5HT
D: neuropathic pain
Trazadone, Nefazadone, Mirtazapine, Bupropion
T&N: serotonin-2 ant & reuptake inhib, SE: priapism
M: a-2 ant (inc NE)
B: inhib reuptake of dopamine
Smoking cessation
Bupropion: se: seizures and wt loss
Nicotine patches: CI if heart problems
Varenicline: PA of nicotinic receptors, CI in depression
Lithium
MOA: modulates cAMP
SE: Nephrogenic DI, Rx: stop lithium & start Amiloride
CI: pregnancy, Epstein’s anomaly
