Baclofen (GABA-B agonist)
sk ms relaxant, (increases K+ efflux)
Flunitrazepam
date rape drug (causes anterograde amnesia)
Diazepam
longer D.O.A, active for 8 hours
OTL: Oxazepam, Temazepam, Lorazepam
(Off the liver), O&T: shorter durations (insomnia usage)
L: longer DOA, (anxiety & seizure usage), and Alcohol withdrawal seizures
Midazolam
IV anesthetic
Clonazepam
muscle relaxation w/ less sedation
Triazolam
decreasing sleep latency (insomnia)
withdrawal -> rebound insomnia
Alprazolam
MC used for anxiety, panic disorders, phobias
Diazepam
used for status epilepticus, and alcohol withdrawal seizures
Flumazenil
MOA: BZ receptor antagonist
*given via IV to reverse benzo OD
Withdrawal symptoms: rebound: anxiety, agitation, insomnia, seizures (more in barbs & alchy), confusion
Rx: IV diazepam or lorazepam
Phenobarbital
Longest DOA, safe for pregnancy seizures, CP450 inducer
Thiopental
Shortest DOA, used as an IV anesthetic, status epilepticus, febrile seizures in children
Overdose
Alkalization of urine
Zolpidem/Zoleplon
MOA: BZ1 receptor agonist
*used for insomnia
OD Rx: IV Flumazenil
