Biology Terminology Flashcards
What is Ciliated Epithelial Tissue?
Ciliated Epithelial Tissue is the tissue that lines a specific area (trachea and bronchi), producing mucus, which acts as a barrier between foreign dust and particles in the lungs.
What is Villi?
Villi are small hair-like cells that line the small intestine to absorb the digested nutrients through the use of blood cells.
What is Smooth Muscle Tissue?
Smooth Muscle tissue is a type of muscle tissue found in hollow organs that moves unconsciously through the nervous system and often pushes objects, particularly food, down. The entire respiratory tract is lined with smooth muscle tissue, and the esophagus uses it to push food down to the stomach.
Three types of Muscle Tissue
The three types of muscle tissue are:
- Skeletal muscle tissue, that we move consciously
- Smooth Muscle Tissue, that moves unconsciously
- Cardiac Muscle Tissue, that is found in our heart.
