Biology (root hair cells) Flashcards
To study for root hair presentation
Is a root hair cell a plant or animal cell?
Plant
What does a nucleus do?
It’s where chemical reactions happen.
What do the hairs do?
Transfer nutrients and water to the cell.
What is cytoplasm?
The liquid parts of a cell float in
What is a cell wall?
A supportive layer around a cell
What kind of cell has a cell wall?
Plant.
What does semi- permeable mean?
Some things are allowed through it such as protein.
Is a root hair cell permeable?
It is semi-permeable
What is a cell membrane?
A supportive layer that can let some things through
What is a vacuole?
It supports the cell, is a storage place and is where the waste from the cell goes.
What does mitochondria do?
Respiration
What do rhibosomes do?
Its where protein synthesis happens
What is protein synthesis?
Makes protein
What is one thing that makes root hair cells different from leaf cells?
They have no chloroplasts- there’s no sunlight underground so there’s no point.
