Q

What happens during telophase?

A

The spindle fibres start to disapear. Then the nuclear membrane and the nucleons reappears at each part of the cell. The chromosomes begin to uncool and become threadlike again

Q

What happens during anaphase?

A

The proteins holding the chromatids together at the centromere break apart

The separated chromatids now called daughter chromosomes are pulled apart by spindle fibres.

The spindle fibres now pull the separated daughter chromosomes to opposite sides of the cell.

Q

What happens during metaphase?

A

The centrioles reach opposite ends of the cell.

Each centromere becomes attached to two spindle fibres one from each centriole.

The chromosomes are moved by the spindle fibres so that they line up at the middle of the cell

Q

What happens in late prophase?

A

The nuclear structures and nuclear membrane disintegrate

The miotic spindle fibres attach to the chromosomes or their centromeres

Q

What happens during early prophase?

A

The chromatin (DNA and Protein) that makeup the chromosomes condensed

Two organelles called centrioles migrate to opposite ends of the cell

Tread like tubules called miotic spindle fibres extend from the centrioles

16
Q

How many parts are in M-phase

A

2 parts

Mitosis and cytokinesis

17
Q

What is another name for M-phase?

A

Cell division

18
Q

What happens during S-phase?

A

The cell replicates it’s DNA during the sphase so that each cell will have a copy after mitosis

19
Q

How many phases does the cell go through of growth and preparation

A

Two periods of growth and preparation

G1 and G2

20
Q

As the cell gets bigger, the cytoplasm increases faster than the surface area of a cells membrane, what problems does this cause?

A

This makes it harder for the cell to absorb substances and expel wastes

21
Q

What happens to the cel as it gets bigger in this phase?

A

The volume of a cells cytoplasm increases faster than the surface area of a cels membrane

22
Q

What happens during interphase?

A

The cell fakes in nutrients grows and conducts other normal cells functions

23
Q

How much time does a cell spend in interphase?

A

About 90%
