Layers of Epidermis
A
from superficial to deep:
1) Stratum corneum
2) Stratum lucidum* (palm and soles)
3) Stratum granulosum
4) Stratum spinosum
5) Stratum basale

Dermis Layers
A
1) Papillary dermis (more superficial and thin, high surface area)
2) Reticular dermis (deeper and thick, made of dense irregular connective tissue)

Sweat glands
A
1) Eccrine glands: located on the entire body surface and important in thermoregulation
2) Apocrine glands: secrete into hair follicles. Can produce earwax or milk

Sebaceous glands
A
- located over the entire body except at the palms of hands and feet
- secrete sebum (oils + wax) into the hair follicle

Hypodermis
A
- Deepest layer and contains large nerves and blood vessels
- Made of loose connective tissue and adipose tissue
- Fat and storage
