Biological Cerebal Cortex (brain) Flashcards
What does the frontal lobe do? (Front of the brain)
Motor processing, higher thought processing such as abstract reasoning.
The cerebral cortex is divided up into 4 lives what are they?
Frontal, parietal, temporal & occipital.
What does the parietal lobe do? (Behind the frontal lobe)
Processes of sensations from the skin and muscles of the body
What does the occipital lobe do? (At the back of the brain)
Mainly responsible for processing visual info, sometimes called the visual cortex.
What does the temporal lobe do? (At the bottom of the brain, below the frontal lobe)
Mainly involved in processing auditory info, sometimes called the auditory cortex
Where is the Broca’s area located? (Speech)
Inside the frontal lobe
Where is the angular gurus (hearing) located?
In the occipital lobe
Where is the primary visual area? (Sight)
In the occipital lobe
Where is the wernicke’s area? (Speech recognition)
In the temporal lobe
Where is the primary auditory area?
In the temporal lobe
Where is the primary motor cortex? (Movement)
At the back of the frontal lobe
Where is the primary sensory cortex? (Somatosensory)
In the front of the parietal lobe
What is the Broca’s area responsible for?
Function of speech
What is the wernicke’s area responsible for?
Speech recognition
