Q

what happens when betamethasone binds to the glucocorticoid receptors

A

forms a complex, which moves to the nucleus, binds DNA causing alteration in gene transcription.

altered gene transcription causes the production of lipocortins, which inhibits phospholipase A2, and therefore reduces the biosynthesis of prostaglandins and leukotrienes.

corticoid steroid reduce the gene expression of interleukin-1, which is an important inflammaroty cytokine.
