Basic Instruments Maneuvers (I2100 Block) Flashcards
Constant Angle of Bank Turns Procedure
- Establish aircraft on a heading @ 150 KIAS
- Turn to a specific heading with 15° or 30° AOB
- Maintain airspeed and altitude
Basic Approach Configuration
- 120 KIAS
- ~42% Power
- Gear down & T/O flaps
Steep Turns Procedure
- Establish aircraft on a heading @ 150 KIAS
- Turn to a specific heading with 45° or 60° AOB
- Maintain airspeed and altitude
Correct altitude deviations by adjusting the pitch attitude
Rate (Timed) Turns Procedure
- Establish aircraft on a cardinal heading @ 150 KIAS
- Initiate the turn 3 seconds prior to the clock indicating XX:00 or XX:30
- Turn to a specific heading using a Half-SRT or Full SRT
- Maintain airspeed and altitude
- Check clock every 30° of HDG change to ensure correct rate/timing of turn
How many ° of HDG change should happen in a minute for a Half-SRT?
90° of HDG change every minute
How many ° of HDG change should happen in a minute for a SRT?
180° of HDG change every minute
How long should a 30° HDG change take for a Half-SRT?
30° of HDG in 20 secs
How long should a 30° HDG change take on a full SRT?
30° of HDG in 10 secs
Constant Airspeed Climb Configuration
- 150 KIAS
- 55% Power
- 6° Nose Up
Constant Airspeed Descent Configuration
- 150 KIAS
- 15% power
- 0° nose down
Constant Airspeed Level Off Configuration
- 150 KIAS
- 33% Power
- 3.5° Nose Up
S-1 Pattern Procedure
- Start on any numbered/cardinal heading @ 150 KIAS
- Three seconds prior to clock getting to XX:00, initiate a 1000 fpm constant airspeed descent (reduce power to 15% and set attitude to 0° Nose Up)
- After 250’ of altitude change, check clock for 15sec of elapsed time
- Three seconds prior to the end of 1min or 50’ of altitude prior to level off altitude, initiate a constant airspeed climb (increase power to 55% and set attitude to 6° nose up)
- After 250’ of altitude change, check clock for 15sec of elapsed time
- Repeat another series of constant airspeed descent followed by a constant airspeed climb
- After final constant airspeed climb, level off (decrease power to 33% and set attitude to 3.5° nose up)
Nose High Unusual Attitude Recovery
- Recognize
- Confirm
- Relax back stick pressure & allow nose to fall towards the horizon
- Roll aircraft towards 90° AOB (but not past 90° AOB)
- Use power as necessary to maintain airspeed above stall speed
- As fuselage dot approaches the horizon bar, establish a wings-level attitude
Steps #3-5 should occur simultaneously
Nose Low Unusual Attitude Recovery
- Recognize
- Confirm
- Roll wings level
- Start to pull up when wings are level (adjust power/use speed brake to recover below max speed)
GCA Maneuver Procedure
- Start on a cardinal heading with a base altitude @ 200 KIAS
- Use a SRT for a 90° heading change while maintaining altitude
- Maintain altitude and heading while slowing to 150 KIAS
- Use a SRT for a 90° heading change while maintaining altitude
Transition to BAC:
5a. Reduce power to 15% torque
5b. Lower landing gear when below 150 KIAS, lower flaps to T/O, and slow to 120 KIAS
5c. Before Landing Checklist
5d. Maintain 120 KIAS
- Reduce power to 24% torque and initiate a 2000 ft descent at a 600fpm rate
- IP will give 3-10° heading change…maintain this heading
Execute a Missed Approach:
8a. Set power to MAX
8b. Raise nose to 10-15° Nose High
8c. Raise gear after two positive rates and flaps to UP after 110 KIAS
- Set 8-10° nose high and climb at 180KIAS
- Approx. 200 ft prior to level off altitude, transition to 200 KIAS cruise configuration at the starting altitude and last assigned heading
