Aerobatics and Contact Unusual Attitudes Flashcards
1
Q
Maximum Operating Speed
A
316 KIAS
2
Q
Operating Maneuvering Speed
A
227 KIAS
3
Q
Nose High Unusual Attitude Recovery
A
- PCL - MAX (as required) and initiating a coordinated roll past 90° AOB towards inverted attitude until the nose approaches the horizon…use backstick pressure to pull yourself towards the horizon
- If airspeed is low, the rollout may be delayed until the nose is below the horizon
- Roll wings level and pull back up near the horizon
4
Q
Nose Low Unusual Attitude Recovery
A
- Roll the aircraft to the nerest horizon while simultaneously reducing the PCL to IDLE (use speed brake as required)
- DO NOT EXCEED MAX ALLOWABLE AIRSPEED
- Pull nose towards the horizon (do not aggressively pull to the horizon and cause an accelerated stall)
5
Q
Inverted Unsual Attitude Recovery
A
- Roll towards the horizon in the shortest direction
- Established the aircraft in an upright position and add power as required
6

Q
Half Cuban Eight Procedure
A
- Check wings level, clear airspace above you, and report entry altitude.
- Start AGSM and initiate a 4G pull up while keeping the wings level. Do not use aileron.
- Re-check wings are level as the nose passes through the horizon and adjust backstick pressure to keep nose moving at a constant rate. Right rudder will need to increase as airspeed decreases
- Airspeed will be at its lowest at the top of the loop: this point will require the greatest about of right rudder while also requiring less backstick pressure. Maintain wings level.
- Allow the nose to fall through the opposite horizon, adjusting the amount of back-stick pressure to maintain constant pitch rate.
- As the nose approaches a point 45° below the opposite horizon, release back-stick pressure and commence a roll in either direction. Apply slight forward stick pressure ruring the roll to hold the heading and allow the nose to continue pitching downward to a position 45° below the horizon.
- After completing the half roll, maintain 45° nose-low until beginning the pull-up. Begin pull-up at approximately 205-210 KIAS (airspeed lead point approximately equal to the number of degrees of nose-low pitch). Continue the pull-up to entry altitude and reciprocal heading.
