B Cell Disease1 Flashcards
1
Q
Example ?
A
X linked- Hyper IGM
2
Q
Are B cells normal?
A
Yes however IGM levels elevated
3
Q
What cause IGM levels to be elevated ?
A
Disruption in CD40L on X chromosome during class switch recombination
4
Q
What does this cause ?
A
Antigen specific T cells unable to instruct B cells to switch IG classes
5
Q
How is it diagnosed ?
A
Measuring IGM levels which positively confirms high IGM levels and low/absent other IG classes levels
6
Q
How can flow chtometry be used ?
A
Analyse Cd40L expression on at cells and CD40 expression on B cell
7
Q
Treatment
A
ig replacement therapy
Administration of trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole
