Say what you mean

Be empathetic
Think carefully about the person you are communicating with and avoid ambiguity by being clear and direct
Avoid open ended as
Remember non verbal communication is difficult for many autistic people so don’t expect them to rely on it in the same way
Be anticipatory :
Don’t communicate in an overstimulating context
Be explicit
Be proactive in phrasing questions to maximise info exchanged
Give time for processing
Be prepared to repeat or rephrase
Avoid rhetorical questions
Be logical :
What you say and what you do should be consistent

Avoid using irony or sarcasm
