What is an attitude ?
A
- a value aimed at an attitude objective
- an opinion of something
- classed as a mental and neutral state of readiness towards an attitude objective

How are attitudes formed ?
A
- socialisation
- if a behaviour is reinforced
- praise - develops a positive attitude

What is the triad model and it’s attitude components ?
A
- cognitive - knowledge and beliefs (e.g. I know everything)
- Affective - feelings and emotions (e.g. chatty, attentive, not involved)
- Behavioural - intended behaviours (e.g. boredom and frustration)

What is cognitive dissonance ?
A
New information given to the performer to cause unease and motivation to change existing attitude
This puts pressure on one or more of the attitude components (CAB)

What are ways that cognitive dissonance can be implemented ?
A
- challenging beliefs (new activity - e.g. yoga for a footballer)
- make activity more fun and engaging
- rewards as a reinforcement, e.g. prizes
- use a role model
