List the steps in the Assist With Walker procdure
- Do initial steps.
- Assist the resident to sit on the edge of the bed.
- Place the walker in front of the resident as close to the bed as possible.
- Have the resident grasp both arms of the walker.
- Brace the leg of the walker with your foot and place your hand on top of the walker.
- Assist the resident to stand on the count of three, check for balance and dizziness.
- Stand to the side and slightly behind the resident.
- Have the resident move the walker ahead by 6 to 10 inches, then step up to the walker; moving the sick or injured leg forward to the middle of the walkers while pushing down on the handles of the walker. Then bringing the unaffected leg forward, even with the weak/injured leg.
- Do the final steps procedure.
