Folic acid because methotrexate causes your body to excrete more folate than usual
What are some adverse effects of methotrexate?
Thrombocytopenia (low platelets in blood) Cirrhosis (need to limit alcohol intake) Pneumonitis Nausea/diarrhoea Teratogenic
How long before conception does methotrexate have to be stopped?
3 months in males and females
What are some adverse effects of sulfasalazine?
Nausea
Rash/mouth ulcers
Neutropenia (low neutrophils)
Hepatitis
What are biologics?
Drugs designed to target specific parts of the immune system found to be implicated in rheumatoid arthritis - TNF, B cells, interleukin 6, 17, 12 and 23
