Arteries of the Heart Flashcards
Right coronary artery Arises from/Drains
Aorta
RCA Enters/drains into
Right walls of heart, right marginal artery, posterior interventricular artery
Notes: Can be found between the right auricle and the wall of the right ventricle. Most common branch that supplies the SA node and AV node-commonly in need of bypass.
Posterior interventricular artery Arises from/Drains
RCA
Left coronary artery
Arises from/Drains
Aorta
Posterior interventricular artery
Enters/Drains Into
Posterior wall of heart, posterior interventricular septum
LCA Enters/Drains into
Left walls of heart, circumflex artery
Anterior interventricular artery (aka Left anterior descending or LAD)
Arises from/Drains
LCA
Anterior interventricular artery (aka Left anterior descending or LAD)
Enters/Drains Into
Left walls of heart, anterior interventricular septum
Notes: “Windowmaker” artery-blockages here are highly dangerous. Commonly in need of bypass
Circumflex artery Arises From/Drains
LCA
Circumflex artery Enters/Drains Into
Left walls of heart
Pulmonary trunk Arises From/Drains
