App - 2: Epithelia Lab 1 Flashcards
1
Q
What is Tissue? What are the types of Tissues?
A
- Tissue is an aggregate of cells and extracellular matrix
organized to perform one or more specific functions in
a collective manner. - All organs in the human body are composed of four
basic types of tissues:
1. Epithelial tissue (Epithelium) 2. Connective tissue 3. Muscle tissue 4. Nervous tissue - Each type of basic tissues may be further subdivided
according to specific characteristics of its various cell
populations and special extracellular components.

Q
Where is Epithelia found? What do they look like?
A
Epithelia Cover the External Body Surfaces and Line Internal Closed Cavities, Body Tubes and Hollow Organ. Epithelia Form Sheets of Cells with Minimal Extracellular Material. Epithelia Are Attached to Basement Membrane
