What is the largest nerve in the body?
The sciatic nerve
What 2 nerves does the sciatic nerve bifurcate into?
The tibial nerve and the common fibular nerve
What is the motor target of the tibial nerve?
The muscles of the posterior thigh (hamstring), and the triceps surae (the soleus and the gastrocnemius)

The quadriceps
What’s the name of the tendon struck for the knee jerk reflex?
The patellar tendon
What does the obturator nerve supply?
The medial compartment of the thigh (adductor)
Describe the origin of the spinal roots
Each spinal nerve is attached to the cord by 2 roots. The anterior root contains motor fibres leaving the spinal cord, while the posterior root contains sensory fibres entering the spinal cord. The dorsal root has a discrete swelling called the dorsal root ganglion, while the ventral root does not. The dorsal root ganglion contains cell bodies of primary sensory neurones.
