Aparigraha Flashcards
Aparigraha overwhelming
Create a sense of stability and calmness
If we choose to practice aparigraha we can
The idea of aparigraha can be overwhelming, hard to deal with. Today we are going to create a sense of stability through our exhale breath and our foundation both mentally and physically so if we choose to practice aparigraha we can
Inhale - emotionally weighing down
Exhale - release the negativity
With your inhale think of anything weighing you down emotionally. Collecting the negativity into the breath. On your exhale releasing the energy allowing it to leave your mind and body as it no longer has a place.
Practice of aparigraha
Today we are going to look at the yogi idea of aparigraha. It means non-attachment, non-grasping or in a positive sense it means releasing and letting go. By practicing aparigraha we can recognise and learn when and what to let go and how to be more present.
Embrace
Fledgling bird, learning to soar
When we fail to embrace aparigraha, we become like the fledgling bird. We stay clinging to a branch. We were born to soar….
Let go of physical and mental baggage
We can grow
To begin to practice aparigraha we have to let go of some of the physical, emotional, and mental baggage we’ve amassed throughout our journey. I have recently been moving home and the practice of aparigraha is at the front of my mind . When we let go, we can grow.
During practice
Similarly during our practice, we have an opportunity to observe where we are clinging with our bodies. Are we gripping our toes to the mat in our warrior sequence like a bird afraid to fly?
In all of these moments, we can realize that in order to have a deeper experience, we must be prepared to let go.
