Acyclovir is metabolised to active aciclovir triphosphate
- inhibits viral enzyme
- blocks viral replication
- acting as a false substrate in DNA synthesis

Valaciclovir - pro-drug of Acyclovir
- first pass thru liver converted to acyclovir

Cotard’s syndrome - rare psychiatric condition causing strong delusions of being DEAD

Neuropsychiatric S&S of aciclovir:
- confusion
- somnolence (drowsiness)
- hallucinations
- associated with renal impairment
