key counseling points
all ADs
- takes up to 4-6 weeks to take effect
- side effects like stomach upset, nausea and diarrhea should decrease with continued use. feeling anxiety with first few doses is common
- sexual side effecrs are common and don’t resolve with continued use
- contact MD if changes in mood, thinking or behavior
- do not drive or operate machinery after first dose until you know how meds will affect you
- if med makes you drowsy take at bedtime. if med makes you restless take in morning w/o regard to food at either time of day
- do not take other meds without checking with MD or RPh
- avoid alcohol and recreational substances
