Mechanism of action:
- Cell membrane - ergesterol inhibitors
Examples:
- Fluconazole
Adverse effects:
- Elevated liver enzymes
- Diarrhoea
- Abdominal pain
- Nausea/vomiting
- Rash
- Thrombocytopenia (low platelets)
- Anaphylaxis
- Blood dyscrasias
- Hepatotoxicity

- Amphotericin B

Indication:
- Serious fungal infections
Adverse effects:
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Nephrotoxicity
Contraindications:
- Renal problems
- High doses (extra caution)
- Other nephrotoxic medications

- Hypokalaemia
- Anaphylaxis
