What are the 7 animal research guidelines?
-Researchers must have a home office licence.
-Anaesthetics must be used appropriately by someone who knows about them.
-Caging and social environment must suit the species.
-A deprived animal must always be monitored and suffering kept to a minimum.
-Only choose animals when other methods aren’t suitable(humans)
-Use the minimum number of animals.
-Must make a significant contribution to science.

What does procedures mean?
-Procedures should not cause pain or discomfort to animals and avoid death where possible.
What does choice of species mean?
Animals used should be chosen so the species being studied is likely to suffer as little as possible.
What does housing and animal care mean?
Keep settings similar to animals natural habitat (if they live in groups).
