Idiopathic Hypersensitivity (food, drugs, insect stings) Physical stimuli (cold, pressure, exercise) Autoimmune disease Infection Ace inhibitors NSAIds Hereditary- deficiency of c1-INH Acquired- result of other diseases

A
female, no race predilection, all ages

What hx do you want for angioedema?
A
FH of angioedema New food or medications Potential triggers/exacerbating factors Medical conditions History of urticaria

What do you do on physical exam?
A
airway assessment, inspection, look for GI involvement - presentation varies

What is the work up for angioedema?
A
Similar to urticaria Identifying the trigger C4 levels for evaluate for acquired and hereditary Imaging Not routinely performed ? Abdominal CT

What is the treatment for angioedema?
A
Life-threatening- Epinephrine Antihistamines \+/- glucocorticoids Hereditary Angioedema C1-INH replacement therapy
