Anatomy of venous ulceration Flashcards
What is superficial fascia made of?
loose connective tissue and fat
What is deep fascia made of?
A tough sheet of dense connective tissue
What do the deep fascia of limbs form?
Compartments.
Remember compartment syndrome.
What are gluteal fascia?
Specifically for the gluteal muscles.
How does fascia lata work?
The fascia here is a tight tough sheet which doesn’t allow muscles to expand which helps with venous drainage when walking or running
Explain the arterial supply to the hand
the subclavian artery --> axillary artery --> brachial artery --> ulnar artery --> superficial palmar arch
which then joins to the deep palmar arch on the bones of the hand.
Where is a good place to take blood from on the hand?
Median cubital
What is the deep branch of the femoral artery?
The profunda femoris
What does the popliteal artery divide into?
The posterior and anterior tibial arteries
Where does the posterior tibial artery divide?
At the ankle - into medial plantar and plantar arch for the sole of the foot
What is the dorsal artery of the foot?
Dorsalis pedis
What does the anterior tibial artery divide into?
The dorsalis pedis and the arcuate artery for the dorsum of the foot
What is the adductor hiatus?
the gap between the adductor magnus muscle and the femur which allows the femoral vessels to pass through it
