Anatomy Lecture 37_Lower Limb Innervation and Blood Supply Flashcards
What are the boarders of the Femoral Triangle?
Sartorius, Adductor longus, Inguinal ligament
What structures are found in the femoral triangle?
Lateral to medial Femoral nerve, artery, vein, lymphatics (NAVL)
What causes a femoral hernia
Remember that any septa is an area of weakness and prone to herniation. In a femoral hernia, bowl or whatever travles through the femoral canal and out the saphenous opening
What are two clinically important uses of the Saphenous Vein?
It is often harvested for arterial bypass. It is also used to inser drug cannulas just anterior to the medial malleolus (the procedure is called a Saphenous Cutdown)
What artery supplies blood to the femoral head in children but not adults?
The obturator hommie
What three branches come off the deep femoris artery What does the DFA supply?
- Lateral circumflex femoral a.
- Medial circumflex femoral a.
- Perforating branches
It supplies all 3 compartments of the thigh
What are the 5 genicular branches of the popliteal artery?
- Superior medial genicular a.
- Superior lateral genicular a.
- Inferior medial genicular a.
- Inferior lateral genicular a.
- Middle genicular a.
What is the P&ID of the Anterior tibial artery?
Anterior Tibial > Dorsalis Pedis»_space; Lateral Tarsal Artery»_space; 1st dorsal metatarsal Artery»_space; Arcuate Artery > Dorsal metatarsal Arteries
What is the P&ID of the Posterior tibial artery?
Posterior Tibial Artery»_space; fibular artery»_space; Medial plantar artery»_space; lateral plantar artery
What artery supplies blood to the femoral head in adults?
The medial circumflex femoral artery
Where is it safe to give a gluteal injection?
In the gluteous medious
What is Piriformis Syndrome?
It is compression of the siatic nerve, specifically the common fibular portion
What muscel out side the anterior compartment of the thigh receives innervation from the femoral nerve?
half the pectiniouse is innervated by the femoral nerve even though it is in the medial compartment
Which muscle in the posterior compartment of the thigh is not innervated by the tibial nerve? What innervates it?
The short head of the biceps femoris is innervated by the common fibular nerve
Which intinsic muscels of the foot are innervated by the medial plantar nerve?
It is the 1st Laff:
• 1st Lumbrical • ABductor hallucis • Flexor digitorum brevis • Flexor hallucis brevis (medial part)
