Anatomy Lecture 30_The Pelvis & Pelvic Organs Part 2 Flashcards
What 4 muscles form the pelvic diagphram?
Coccygeus (connects to the ischial spine and sacrum, Puborectalis, Pubococcygeus, Iliococcygeus
Where does the Piriformis attach?
It attaches to the sacrum, passes through the greater siatic notch and then attaches to the greater trochanter
Where does the Obturator internus attach?
It attaches to the fossa of the ilium, passes through the lesser iliac notch, and then attaches to the greater trochanter
where are the Supravesical & paravesical fossa
The supravesical fossa is located just on the superior surface of the bladder. The paravesicle fossa are located adjacent to the blader on both sides
Where is the Vesico-uterine pouch
It is located between the inferior surface of the uterus and the superior surface of the blader.
Where is the Recto-uterine pouch (of Douglas)
It is located between the posterior surface of the uterus and the anterior surface of the rectum
In men, the Rectovesical pouch is analogus to which structure in women?
Recto-uterine pouch
What does the Puboprostatic/ pubovescial ligs do
They attach the blader to the pubic symphisis in men and women respectivly
What is a Prolapse?
It is a weakening of the muscles, ligaments, and fascia of the pelvic floor that results in protutions of structures into the vaginal canal. This can include the following: • Cystocele- herniation of urinary bladder • Urethrocele- herniation of uterus • Rectocele- herniation of rectum
What are the 6 parts of the internal male genitalia?
• Testes • Epididymis • Ductus deferens • Prostate • Seminal glands • Bulbo-urethral glands
What are the 3 parts of the external male genitalia?
• Penis • Urethra • Scrotum
What forms the ejaculatory duct?
It is formed by the union of the ductus deferens and the seminal gland
What can an enlarged prostate cause?
Nocturia, dysuria, incontinence, Bladder infections & Prostatitis
What are the three parts of the broad ligament? What do they suspend?
• Mesovarium (ovaries) • Mesometrium (uterus) • Mesosalpix (uterine tubes)
Which two female ligaments are remnants of the gubernaculum
Ligament of the ovary & the Round ligament of the uterus
