Q

What is the main difference between Superior and Inferior Hypogastric Plexuses?

A

The Inferior hypogastric plexus contains parasympathetic innervation while the Superior hyopgastric plexus contains only viseral afferent and sympathetic.

Q

What is the Omental Foraman (foraman of Winslow)

A

It is the foraman that connects the greater Peritoneal sac to the lesser Peritoneal sac (Omental Bursa). The Omental Bursa is located posterior to the lesser omentum

17
Q

Define Ascites

A

It is the accumulation of fluid in the peritoneal space. It is charicterized by Distended abdomen and muscle rigidity, interferes with abdominothoracic
thoracic rhythm

18
Q

What are the two main devisions of the greater peritoneal sac?

A

Supra-colic & Infra-colic compartments (they are divided by the transverse colon)

19
Q

What is a Mesentery

A

20
Q

What provides blood supply to the foregut?

A

Celiac Trunk

21
Q

What are the connections of the Iliacus, what is it’s inervation, and what is its movements?

A

See attached

22
Q

Define Extraperitoneal

A

This is a structure that is outside the peritoneum. It has three sub classes: • Retroperitoneal - behind the peritoneum • Subperitoneal - below the peritoneum • Secondarily Retroperitoneal - Once was Intraperitoneal but through development got pushed out and became Extraperitoneal

23
Q

What are the three sections of the Greater Omentum? Where do they attach?

A
