Anatomy Lecture 23_Abdominal Overview and Infrastructure Flashcards
What are the three Subdivisions of the Peritoneal Cavity around the liver?
see attached
Define Intraperitoneal
This is a structure that envaginates the peritoneum (the fist in the ballon.
what are the two segments of the Lesser Omentum?
See attached
What is the main difference between Superior and Inferior Hypogastric Plexuses?
The Inferior hypogastric plexus contains parasympathetic innervation while the Superior hyopgastric plexus contains only viseral afferent and sympathetic.
What is the Omental Foraman (foraman of Winslow)
It is the foraman that connects the greater Peritoneal sac to the lesser Peritoneal sac (Omental Bursa). The Omental Bursa is located posterior to the lesser omentum
What provides blood supply to the hind gut?
Inferior mesenteric artery
Describe Paracentesis & Peritoneal Dialysis
see attached
What 6.5 structres compose the foregut and are supplied by the Celiac Trunk?
• Abdominal esophagus • Stomach • Proximal 1/2 duodenum • Pancreas • Liver & Gallbladder • Spleen* (not a gut derivative) (this is what I was calling .5)
What provides blood supply to the mid gut
superior mesenteric artery
What are the three abdominal ligaments of the diaphragm, what muscles cross under them
Psoas Major crosses behind the medial arcuate ligament and the quadratus lumborum crosses behind the lateral arcuate ligament
What are the connections of the Quadratus lumborum, what is it’s inervation, and what is its movements?

Define Peritonitis
infection in the peritoneal space
What is the flow pattern of the abdominal aorta?
see attached
What are the three main opening of the diaphragm (what level are they at)? What passes through them? How do they effect those structures?
see attached
Define Peritoneal cavity
It is the fluid filled space between the Parietal peritoneum and the Visceral peritoneum
