agnosias Flashcards
Inability to recognize objects, draw, or copy a figure. Knowledge of object is intact. Name and lesion?
apperceptive visual agnosia; parietal & occipital cortex
Difficulty understanding the meaning of what you see. accurate drawing or copying intact, but unable to recognize what you drew. Objects correctly perceived or identified when held or verbally described.
associative visual agnosia. bilateral inferior occipitotemporal cortex.
Inability to see more than one object at a time.
dorsal simultagnosia. bilateral occipitotemporal cortex.
Cannot identify more than one object or complex objects at a time, but can see more than one at a time. Unable to perceive the whole picture as one. A night sky with a moon and stars–the moon might be identified as a ball.
ventral simultagnosia. left inferior occipital area.
Color agnosia (location)
left occipitotemporal region
inability to orient to surroundings because of the inability to interpret spatial information. good memory of layout, but difficulty navigating/using visual cues to guide them.
topographical agnosia; right posterior cingulate
phonagnosia
inability to recognize familiar voices. sound association region.
inability to identify the size and shape of objects.
