What is care?
Providing effective care for individuals up to a standard for the health of the whole community
What is compassion
How you demonstrate your care through the relationship of trust, respect, empathy and dignity
What is competence
Making sure you understand an individual’s health and social needs through your own expertise of clinical and practical knowledge to understand what is the best treatment
What is communication?
How you communicate with service users and other professionals. This includes key skills such as listening, speaking with clarity and appropriate tone and pace to make an individual feel valued
What is courage
To have the ability to support and speak for those that you care for whenever there is a concern
What is an adult nurse
A Nurse that specialises in the care of adults normally in a hospital who have one or multiple health conditions and providing effective treatment and recovery and wellbeing
What do adult nurses do
Work in hospitals, units and people’s homes to provide effective treatment and care to improve well being by working with other professionals

What is the nursing and midwifery council?
The NMC is the regulatory body for nurses and midwives within the UK who ensure that public health is maintained whilst setting standards for education and providing training
What is the code of the NMC
The code is that nurses are registered to provide care for the public that is expected from the nurses to provide effective care that is ensured my making sure nurses are competent in their work
What are the main aspects of the code of the NMC

Practise effectively

Promote professionalism and trust
What is prioritising people as part of the code
The service user is your main concern including their safety and care. Their rights are upheld and discrimination is challenged
1 - treat people with respect and dignity
2- listen to people and respond to their preferences and concerns
3- physical, social and psychological needs are responded to
4- act in best interest of people at all times
5-respect right to privacy and confidentiality
What is practising effectively
Assessing and delivering treatment to the best of our knowledge abilities whilst also utilising important communication skills
1- practise with best evidence
2-communicate clearly with no jargon and using language that is easily understood
3- cooperative teamwork
4-share skills and knowledge to carers and patients to improve care
5-keep clear and accurate records by making sure they are up to date
5-be accountable for delegating tasks to other people
What is preserving safety
Protecting patient and public health within your competence and raising concerns when necessary
1-recognise and work within the limits of competence
2- be open about care and treatment and whether any risk or harm has happened to the patient
3- always offer help whenever an emergency arises
4- act upon someone when you think there is a risk to their health without delay
5- raise concerns immediately whenever an incident occurs
6- advise and prescribe medication based. On your competence and the law and policies
7- be aware of harm within practice and try to reduce it as much as possible
What is promoting professionalism and trust?
Keeping a professional attitude and showing a personal commitment to nursing practice
1 - uphold your reputation by treating people fairly and supporting the values of the care
2- uphold reputation of being a Nurse by refusing gifts that could persuade treatment
3-fulfill registration requirements by training and learning and working your prescribed shifts
4- cooperate with audits and investigations

5- provide leadership to promote those to good health and sellbeing
