What are the features of actinic keratoses?
A
- Small, crusty or scaly, lesions
- May be pink, red, brown or the same colour as the skin
- Typically on sun-exposed areas e.g. temples of head
- Multiple lesions may be present

What is the management for actinic keratoses?
A
- Prevent further sun damanage
- Flouracil cream
- Topical diclofenac
- Topical imiquimod
- Cryotherapy
- Curettage and cautery

How long is a course of flouracil?
A
2-3 weeks

What can happen to the skin with flouracil treatment and what can you do about it?
A
It can become red and inflammed.
You can give hydrocortisone treatment.

When can diclofenac be used?
A
In moderate AK but it isn’t as effective as 5-FU.
