AAW: Inguinal Ligament Flashcards
Definition of inguinal Ligament
It is the rolled in free lower border of the external oblique aponeurosis, that is curved with a convexity downwards due to its attachment to the fascia lata of the thigh.
Describe attachements of the inguinal Ligament
- Medially: Pubic tubercle
- Laterally: Anterior Superior Iliac Spine (ASIS)
enumerate Extensions of the Inguinal Ligament
- Lacunar Ligament
- Pectineal Ligament
- Reflected part (of inguinal Ligament)
Apex of Lacunar ligament is attached to
Pubic tubercle
same as the medial Attachement of the inguinal Ligament
Anterior Border of Lacunar Ligament is attached to
Inguinal Ligament itself
Base (lateral free border) of Lacunar ligament is attached to
It makes up the medial cresent shaped border of the femoral Ring
Posterior border of the Lacunar ligament is attached to
Medial Part pectineal Line
The extension formed by the posterior border of the lacunar ligament laterally which is attached to pectineal line is called ……., and it lies posterior to the ……
pectineal (cooper’s) ligament, Femoral Ring
reflected part of inguinal Ligament extends from ….. to ….
- Lateral crus of superficial inguinal ring
- Linea Alba
Direction of extension is upwards and medial
which part of inguinal Canal is formed by the reflected part of inguinal ligament
Medial 1/4 of the posterior wall of the inguinal Canal
Structure behind reflected part of inguinal ligament
Conjoint tendon & rectus sheath
Structure in front of reflected part of inguinal ligament
Spermatic Cord
general site of inguinal ligament
below the groin fold
Upper concave surface of inguinal ligament is attached to
- Lateral 2/3: Origin to internal Abdomenal Oblique muscle
- Lateral 1/3: origin to Transversus abdomenus
- Medial 1/2: makes up the floor of inguinal Canal
Attachement of lower convex surface of Inguinal Ligament
