Parallel fibers
Pectoral & Scapula Muscles - L, O, I, A
Rhomboid Major
L: Posterior midback intermediate
O: Spinous processes of T2-T5
I: Medial border of scapula from spine to inferior angle
A: ADduction (retraction) of scapula
Parallel fibers
Pectoral & Scapula Muscles - L, O, I, A
Levator Scapulae
L: Posterior Neck/Shoulder Intermediate
O: Transverse processes of C1-C4
- C4 => superior angle of scapula
- C3 => more medial on superior angle
- C2 => more medial on superior angle
- C1 => same as C2
I:
- Medial border (superior portion) of scapula
- Superior angle of scapula
A: Elevation of scapula
- Deep to trapezius muscle
- Has a twisting muscle belly

Trapezius
L: Posterior neck/back superficial
O:
- Superior nuchal line
- External occipital protuberance
- Ligament of nuchae
- Spinous processes of C7-T12
I: (same as deltoid)
- Lateral 1/3rd of clavicle (upper trap)
- Acromion (middle trap)
- Spine of scapula (lower trap)
A:
-Elevation
- ADduction (retraction) & depression of scapula
- Extension of head at neck
- Upper = oblique
- Middle= horizontal
- Lower = oblique
- Does not have an attachment to the ribs
Pectoral & Scapula Muscles - L, O, I, A
Latissimus Dorsi
L: Posterior back superficial
O:
- Spinous processes of T7-T12
- Thoracolumbar fascia
- Iliac crest
- Inferior 3 or 4 ribs
I: Floor of bicipital (intertubercular) groove of humerus
A:
- Extension of arm at shoulder
- Medial rotation of arm at shoulder
- ADduction of arm at shoulder
Convergent fibers
- The only muscle that attaches the upper body to lower body
Pectoral & Scapula Muscles - L, O, I, A
Pectoralis Minor
L: Anterior chest deep
O: 3rd, 4th and 5th ribs
I: Coracoid process of scapula
