Muscles of Anterior Compartment of Thigh: Quadricep Muscles - L, O, I, A
Vastus intermedius
L: Anterior thigh deep
O: Anterior & lateral surfaces of shaft of femur (just below greater trochanter)
I:
* Patella
* Tibial tuberosity via patella ligament
A: Extension of leg at knee
Parallel fibers

I:
* Patella
* Tibial tuberosity via patella ligament
A:
- Extension of leg at knee
- Flexion of thigh at hip
Bipennate fibers
Muscles of Anterior Compartment of Thigh - L, O, I, A
Sartorius
L: Anterior/medial thigh superficial
O: ASIS of ilum
I: Medial condyle of tibia (part of Pes anserinus)
A:
- Flexion, ABduction & lateral rotation of thigh at hip
- Flexion of leg at knee
Parallel fibers
- “Tailor’s muscle”
- Longest muscle in the body
Attachments of Anterior Thigh
Common quadricep tendon
- Runs between the quadriceps and the patella to help guide the quadriceps over the knee joint
- Quad ms. -> patella -> tibial tuberosity
