Q

How is the ovarian cycle regulated

A

controlled by hypothalmus
releases Gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH)
which allows gonadotropins to release= FSH+LH

Q

At the beginning of each ovarian cycle, what grows and what stimulates it

Q

late primary follicle contains zona pelicuda, granulusa cells and outside is the theca. what binds to the theca

A

Lh bind to theca + makes androstenedione.
These are given to granulosa cells + make oestrogen
increases oestrogen levels in blood

Q

what happens to the follicle after the oocyte rupture for ovulation

A

turns into the corpus lutetium ( yellow body)
if there no fertilisation of oocyte then CL goes through apoptosis= corpus albicans (this is where u get menstrual bleeding)

if fertilised CL persists due to human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) this is secreted by the synctiotrophoblast
