What 3 things must an IC at an RTC consider on arrival?
- The size and suitability of the safe area
- That sufficient space is available for brigade personnel, equipment and other agencies is available
- That appliances are positioned and illuminated with consideration to road layout
What Tabards can be worn over High Vis at an RTC?
None High Vis will always take priority
What lighting must be used by appliances at an RTC?
Mast flood lighting, Blue warning and fend off lights
When should blue lighting be used by appliances at an RTC?
All appliances must use Blue lights to help secure a safe working area
How should a police accident sign be placed?
Only when it is safe to do so
Where it will not obstruct moving vehicles(ie not in Road)
Prior to any bends/dips in the roadway
If a hazmat is involved at an RTC who should the IC request?
HMEPO
Can FRUs be returned from a RTC?
Not when a Persons trapped informative has been sent
What are the inner and outer circle at RTCs?
the inner circle should be a minimum of 2m around the area of operations and only personnel in correct PPE and directly involved should enter
the outer circle should be a minimum of 5m outside the inner circle and is where the IC can monitor the incident and crews and equipment not yet in use should be kept
What are the 5 steps of the vehicle stabilisation process?
- switch off ignition and remove key
- isolate battery or power supply (as long as this will not compromise other actions being completed
- Proximity Keys should be moved at least 20m from the vehicle
- apply the handbrake and engage the gearbox
- Chock and block
If a windscreen is to be removed in one piece what is the minimum Personnel to do so?
