6 arm neurovasculature Flashcards
which artery passes through the brachial plexus?
subclavian
What are the 2 main compartments of the BP?
anterior, supplies all the muscles of the anteiror musculo-facial compartment of the limb 9Hexor compartment)
posterior - extensor compartment
What does the radial nerve roughly do, and what is it supplied by?
extensor muscles
C5-T1 (all of them)
Why does the musculocutaneous nerve roughly do, and what is it supplied by?
flexor muscles
C5-C7
What does the ulnar nerve roughly do, and what is it supplied by?
flexor muscles
C7-T1
What does the median nerve roughly do, and what is it supplied by?
flexor muscles
C6-T1
what does the long thoracic nerve do, what is it supplied by, and what happens if damaged?
innervates the serratus anterior,
C5-C7
winged scapula
What are the 3 arterial structures of the hand?
deep palmar arch
superficial palmar arch
digital arteries
before really reaching the humerus, what does the axillry artery branch into, and what happens to it?
the humeral circumflex, ulnar collateral, and the deep brachial artery, at which point the axillary artery becomes the brachial artery
What are the main arteries of the forearm?
radial
ulnar
anterior crural interosseus
What happens to the radial and ulnar arteries?
they re-unite as the superficial and deep palmar arches
What are the 3 divisions of the veins of the arm?
superficial venous drainage
deep venous drainage
perforating veins
In the shoulder, what are the tributaries of the subclavian?
The axillary vein, which gets help from the cephalic and subscapular veins
Where does the cephalic vein go?
From the palmar venous arches to the cubital fossae, draining into the median cubital vein, and then it continues up the lateral upper arm to the axillary vein
Going down the arm, which veins stay deep and which become superfiical?
the cephalic and basilic vein run on either side of the upper arm, and all their tributaries are superficial.
The brachial vein and its tributaries are deep
