acromioclavicular subluxaiton (shoulder separation)
arm hangs low
bulge at shoulder as clavicel displaced upwards
What nerve might be injured in a shoulder dislocation?
axillary nerve - regimental badge sensory loss
What is nursemaid’s elbow?
radial head slips out of annular ligament when child lifted by arm
Which to nerves are at risk of a supracondylar fracture of the distal humerus?
radial and medial nerve (as well as brachial artery)
What is a monteggia fracture?
fracture of proximal ulna and dislocation of proximal radius
What is a Galeazzi fracture?
dislocation of distal ulna with fracture of distal radius
How might distal radial fractures present?
colles (posterior wrist protrusion)
smith (anterior wrist protrusion)
How might a colles fracture happen?
fall on outstretched hand
How might a smith fracture happen?
fall on flexed hand
What is Erb’s palsy?
upper brachial plexus injury in childbirth
