How soon should EllaOne be taken after UPSI?
take ulipristal within 120 hours of UPSI
How soon should the copper coil be used after UPSI?
within 5 days of UPSI or within 5 days of earliest estimated ovulation date.
On what days of the cycle is emergency oral contraception effective?
Levonelle (72hrs) and EllaOne (120hrs) are only effective if taken BEFORE ovulation happens. So only on day 1-14est.

Nope
When can OCP be started after taking emergency Levonelle?
Can start immediately after levonorgestrel (it delays ovulation)
COCP needs condoms for 7 days
POP needs condoms for 2 days
What is the dose of levonorgestrel in Levonelle?
1.5mg or
3mg if over 70kgs or BMI >26
When might Levonelle dose need to be repeated?
If vomiting occurs within 3 hours of taking the pill.
Side effects of Levonelle?
- Nausea and vomiting
- spotting and changes to next period
- diarrhoea
- breast tenderness
- dizziness
- depressed mood
Can levonorgestrel be taken when breast feeding?
Yes but avoid breastfeeding for 8 hours.
What is ulipristal mechanism?
Ulipristal acetate (EllaOne) is a selective progesterone receptor modulator (SERM) which delays ovulation and more effective than Levonelle.
