5 Shu Stream Points Flashcards
What are the 5 Shu transport points?
The Five Shu Transport points are points that exist on every channel. Where the channel starts at the fingers or toes until the elbow or knee.
The five points are: Jing well, Ying Spring, Shu stream, Jing rover and He sea.
What is a way to remember the order of the 5 Shu Transport points?
Imagine a mountain with mist. As it flows down it forms a well (Jing well), to a spring (Ying Spring), to a stream (Shu stream), to a River (Jing river) to the sea (He-Sea).
What is Jing-Well?
Jing well points are located at the tip of the gingers or tips of the toes. Usually where the channel starts and is the most narrow/superficial.
What are the energetic actions of Jing Well points?
Qi emerges, emanates, appears and flows out. Qi changes polarity from yin to yang. Needling this point can have a quick and dramatic effect. Quickly drains excess out of the body (excess heat, prick to bleed).
What are the applications of Jing-Well points?
Jing well points…
- Clear heat
- Restore consciousness
- Rescue from collapse
- Treat the uppermost end of the channel.
- Treat fullness below the heart
- Treat disorders of the spirit
What is Ying-Spring?
Usually the second points on the channel, distal to the finger or toe joints.
What is the energetic action of Ying Spring points?
Qi slips, glides, flows; qi is swift. The qi is powerful, swirling and dynamic. These points can have a quick dramatic effect, especially at clearing heat.
What are the applications of Ying spring points?
- Clear heat
2. Treat changes in colour and changes of complexion and treat diseases of the yang channels and yin organs.
What is Shu-Stream?
Located at the third point along the channel, except for the GB channel. Proximal side of the knuckle or ankle.
What is the energetic action of Shu-stream points?
Qi pours, rushes down. The flow increases and becomes deeper. The point is able to transport things along with it. This is where the Wei qi gathers.
What is the application of Shu-stream points?
- Heaviness in the body and pain in the joints (dampness)
- Disorders of the yang channels and yin organs.
- Diseases manifesting intermittently (malaria)
What are Jing River points?
Located between the wrist and elbow or between the ankle and knee.
What is the energetic action of of Jing river points?
Qi flows like a current. The Chanel is bigger, wider and deeper.
What are the applications of Jing River points?
- Cough
- SOB
- fever and chills
- Diseases manifesting in the patients voice
- Diseases of the sinews and bones.
What are He-Sea points?
Located near the elbow or knee
What are the energetic actions of the He-Sea points?
Qi disappears, enters inward and goes deep. The channel is vast and deep. Qi comes together and joins the general circulation of the body, like a river joining the sea.
What are the applications of He-Sea points?
- Rebellious qi
- Diarrhoea
- Disorders from irregular eating
- Diseases of the yang organs
- Diseases of the skin (yang channels).
What is the five phase correspondences of the Shu transport points on the Yin channels?
Jing-Well = Wood Ying-Spring = Fire Shu-Stream = Earth Jing-River = Metal He-Sea = Water
What is the five phase correspondences of the Shu transport points on the Yang channels?
Jing-Well = Metal Ying-Spring = Water Shu-Stream = Wood Jing-River = Fire He-Sea = Earth
What do Yin channel phase shu stream points treat? Jing well?
Jing well in the wood phase treats fullness below the heart (liver)
What do Yin channel phase shu stream points treat? Ying Spring?
Ying-Spring points in the fire phase treat body heat
