Tell me about Fort Carson History

A

Established in 1942 after Pearl Harbor, Fort Carson was built on land donated by Colorado Springs and named in honor of Gen. Kit Carson.

Originally supporting World War II training for over 100,000 troops and various units, it became a permanent installation in 1954 and grew to 140,000 acres, plus the 237,000-acre Pinon Canyon Maneuver Site.
