Learners should know of the global requirements of Green IT. This should lead to an understanding of the rationale for it and the global benefits.
Purpose of Green IT
to use computers and IT resources in an efficient way/environmentally responsible way to reduce carbon footprint and become eco friendly or sustainable
OR
to reduce waste by recycling resources/computers giving it to charity to reuse.
What are some examples of how Green IT can be used/how organisations can reduce their carbon footprint?
What are then the benefits of an organisation using/implementing Green IT?
Economic - less/reducing costs on energy consumption, transportation, water, waste, disposal and paper which saves money.
Improved brand image: by promoting the fact that the business is dedicated to green initiatives, people are becoming more environmentally conscious and prefer to do business with an organisation that follows environmentally friendly policies.
Customers will think positively of their product, INCREASING SALES.
Reducing their carbon footprint then means they are positively impacting the environment.
