Q

What is the movement of the molecules like in simple diffusion?

A

-particles are constantly in motion due to KE
-motion is random, no set pattern
-constantly bouncing off one another as well as off objects

Q

facilitated diffusion (carrier proteins)

A
  • carrier proteins are specific to the molecule
  • the molecule binds to the receptor and causes a confirmational change which moves the molecule through
  • once the molecule is passed through the carrier protein reverts to its original shape
