Q

testing pupillary/consensual reflexes

A
  • Shine light only in left eye (Moe, Curly, Larry finger defense shield)
  • Both pupils should shrink
17
Q

What may cause ptosis?

A

problem with oculomotor nerve

18
Q

What problems can occur with bilateral ptosis?

A

problems with walking

19
Q

What may be done with bilateral ptosis?

A

tape ‘em open

20
Q

What is convergence? Why is it tested?

A
  • look at something close/far/ back and forth

- showing it can focus like the aperture on a camera

21
Q

What problem can happen with convergence?

A

can get stuck with one depth of field

22
Q

Which other two eye movements are tested together? (give the CNs)

A

trochlear

abducens

23
Q

trigeminal: testing sensation

A
  • sharp
  • dull
  • hot
  • cold
  • etc.
24
Q

Where is the sensation for the trigeminal nerve?

A

over the face in the areas you already know

also inside the mouth and teeth of those areas

25
Q

trigeminal motor testing

A
  • excursion
  • clenching
  • etc.
26
Q

What can often injure the trigeminal nerve?

A
  • TBI
  • car wrecks (mild concussions)
  • punch to the face
  • airbags
  • etc
