What did Asch find about social change

A
  • the power of dissent: when one confederate dissented, conformity dropped. shows that the power of the majority can be broken by the minority which is what could lead to social change

Eg: environmental and health campaigners often exploit normative social influence by including information about what other people are doing

  • as a control, some had a general message saving energy but without reference to others
