What is an enzyme?
a catalyst, they reduce energy required for chemical reactions
What is substrate?
apart of chemical reactions that split into 2
What is an active site?
a place where the enzyme and substrate react
What is activation energy?
the minimum amount of energy needed for a chemical reaction
What is the relationship between rate of reaction and substrate concentration?
as enzyme goes up so does the reaction time
What is the relationship between rate of reaction and enzyme concentration?
as substrate goes up so does the reaction rate
What is the relationship between rate of reaction and pH?
they don’t bind as well with the substrate and substrate is the limiting factor
What is the relationship between rate of reaction and temperature?
body temperature is the highest point, if the temperature drops or highers, the rate of reaction does as well
What happens to an enzyme when conditions are changed?(such at temperature, pH, e.c.t.)
they drop down to 0 on the graph
