Q

What are the 4 issues with peer review?

A

Problems:
• Hard to find expert in particular field
○ If someone is first in a field, have to train a whole new person to be an expert in order for them to be able to peer review an article
• Difficult to retract public study
○ Even if wrong, damage is done
• Peer review does not always spot mistakes
• Unconventional/controversial work often ignored
○ Journals don’t want to be known as controversial
