Why was there high levels of conformity(support) In Nazi Germany?

A
  • Lots of criticism was banned, and Goebbels spread positive messages about Nazi Germany. hence remained popular

-there was reduced unemployment in (1930s).

-recovered post depression
-people appreciated how they tacked communist and Jews
-people feared going to concentration camps, so conformed to the rules

A

via the Pastors emergency league (PEL) and the confessing church

A

founded in (1933). Where they opposed the Reich Church and Nazis attempts to stop Jews becoming Christian, and banning of old Jewish testament from there teachings

A

set up by pastors emergency league in (1934), that opposed nazis inteference,
(6000 pastors joined confessing church) where some pastors spoke out against nazis, (although 800 were arrested for this)

The priest were killed and imprisoned at Dachau concentration camp.

What was pastor Martio Niemoller significance in church opposition?

A

Support:
-voted for nazis in (1924-1933) elections, believed germany need strong leader, so welcomed hitler.
-not oppose all jewish restrictions
-(1939) asked if he could be released from prison to fight for german army
Opposition:
set up Pastor emergancy league and confessing church.
-oppose bans on jew being christian
-He spoke out aganst Nazi policies, after his telehpone had been bugged. hence repeatedly arrested between (1934-1938)

A

-they prioritised the youth, by indocternating them through schools, that had Nazi curricleam and Atleest 97% of teacher part of Nazi teacher association

-for boys (hitler youth)
-League of german maidens

-were wealthy middle class who admired american culture
-Listened to jazz Music (illiegal, heindrich himmler threatened those who listen) imported from America
-partied and drank alcohol
