22/23 Lymph Flashcards
Structure of Lymph Nodules consist of two parts:
Germinal Center and then Cortex=Mantle
In this part of the lymph nodule structure there is predominately b lymphocytes and plasma cells, also helper t lymphocytes, macrophages and APCs
not always present if it is present usually indicates evidence of antigen response
GERMINAL CENTER
Permanent collection of nodules are in three locations:
Tonsils – palatine , lingual and pharyngeal
Ileum – peyers patches
appendix
this tonsil is made of pseudostratifed ciliated epithelium
Pharyngeal Tonsil = adenoids
These tonsils are stratifed squamous non keratinized epithelium
Palatine and Lingual Tonsils
How does lymphatic drainage bring fluid and cells back into blood circulation through what?
Thoracic duct and right lymphatic duct
B lymphocytes lie where in the parenchyma of the lymph node
CORTEX – dark outer region filled with lymph nodules
T-lymphocytes lie where in the parenchyma of a lymph node
PARACORTEX – inner cortex
how do lymphocytes enter lymph nodes through what
HIGH ENDOTHELIAL VENULES (HEVS)
Afferent Lymph Vessels – lymph flow
Subcapsular sinus –> trabecular sinus –> medullary sinus = lymph sinuses –> efferent lymph vessel
This pulp of the parenchyma in the SPLEEN is dark staining tissue, mostly B cells in lymph nodules, T cells in periarterial lymphiatic sheath (PALS) around the central artery
WHITE PULP
This pulp in the parenchyma of the SPLEEN consists of red cells (RBC, splenic cords, venous sinuses, and splenic discontinuous sinusoids)
