2 Vacuole Flashcards
1
Q
Function
A
to hold or contain something within the cell
2
Q
Sap, food, gas vacuoles and protein bodies function
A
generalized storage components throughout the cell.
3
Q
Contractile vacuoles function
A
help in osmoregulation. Osmoregulation is the cells way of regulating osmotic pressure by controlling the water and salt concentrations. Contractile vacuoles are smaller and are located towards the outer membrane to easily maintain pressure.
4
Q
Central vacuoles function
A
give support to plant cells to maintain shape. It also contains the cells water supply, waste, and other materials. This type of vacuole is typically the largest and takes up the majority of the cell.
